What kind of game is it?
Lil Blunt: The Smoke Realm is a free 2D side-scrolling arcade platformer. You play it in a web browser — there is nothing to download and nothing to install. The game is set in the Smoke Realm, a 1800s Wild West world, and it plays like a classic arcade platformer: you run and jump through the Smoke Realm.
Who is Lil Blunt?
Lil Blunt is the hero of the game — a green leaf mascot on a run through the Smoke Realm. The main antagonist is the Tax Collector, who is always trying to take what you find. The game's tagline is "you can't tax the vibe."
What does the blockchain part actually do?
The game runs on the Internet Computer (ICP), which is a public blockchain. A blockchain is a network of computers that work together to store data in a way that anyone can check and that no single person controls. What makes the Internet Computer different from most blockchains is that it can host whole web apps — meaning this entire site, including the game itself, is served directly from the blockchain.
When you sign in, the game uses Internet Identity. Internet Identity lets you sign in with a device fingerprint or a face scan instead of a password or a seed phrase. It is a way to prove who you are without handing over a password.
What is and isn't live right now
To be precise about the current state: the website is genuinely served from the Internet Computer, and Internet Identity sign-in genuinely works. The Proof of Play achievement layer is the design for how runs are recorded. The leaderboard and ecosystem figures currently shown on the site are demonstration data and are labelled DEMO. There is not yet a live on-chain leaderboard carrying real player scores, and there is no NFT minting — Proof of Play is an achievement layer, not a token drop.
To be completely clear about what is not required:
- No wallet. You do not need a crypto wallet to play.
- No purchase. The game is free.
- No transaction fee. There are no fees to pay.
- No sign-in needed. The game is fully playable without signing in at all.
How is it different from other browser platformers?
- The whole app is on-chain. The front end itself is served from a canister on the blockchain, not from a traditional web server. That is unusual even among Web3 games, which typically put only a contract on chain and host the rest of the app elsewhere.
- No wallet-install friction. Many web3 games force you to install a wallet before you can play. This game does not. You can start playing immediately.
- Achievements, not earnings. There is no token reward, airdrop, or play-to-earn mechanic. Proof of Play is an achievement layer, not a way to earn money.
- It is a real game first. The focus is on fun, arcade-style gameplay. The blockchain part is a background detail, not the point of the game.
